In 2022, under the guidance of policy documents such as the Implementation Plan for the Development of New Energy Storage in the 14th Five-Year Plan, the number of new energy storage bidding projects will increase significantly and the industrial layout will accelerate. All kinds of new technologies and new application scenarios are emerging, and the energy storage project construction is not the largest, only bigger.

According to incomplete statistics, domestic energy storage manufacturers will create 23 energy storage projects in 2022. The fields include: compressed air energy storage project, carbon dioxide energy storage project, electrochemical energy storage project, molten salt energy storage project, light (heat) storage multi-energy complementary integration project, sodium ion energy storage battery project, liquid flow battery energy storage project, etc. According to the attributes of the project and the industry, the following four categories of "the largest in the world, the largest in the country, the largest in the province, and the largest in the industry" are carried out.
1. The largest single capacity optical storage Project in Hainan Province was put into operation On April 17, the Datang Wenchang Wengtian centralized photovoltaic Base 100MW Agor-optical complementary + Energy storage demonstration project invested by Datang Hainan Energy Development Co., LTD was successfully completed and put into operation for power generation. This project is a key project in Hainan Province, the largest single unit capacity "photovoltaic + energy storage" project in Hainan at present, and the first photovoltaic project started in the 14th Five-Year Plan of Wenchang City. With an investment of 680 million yuan, the project can use more than 1,400 hours in the first year after putting into operation, providing Hainan power grid with over 174 million KWH of pure green and clean electricity annually. Compared with coal-fired power generation, it can reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 144,000 tons per year, which is equivalent to the annual absorption of 6,000 mu of forest.
On June 1, the Yangxi County government signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Guangzhou Huining Times New Energy Development Co., LTD., and China General Nuclear Power Sales Co., LTD., marking that the world's largest green energy storage power station project officially settled in Yangxi. The project is planned to invest about 12 billion yuan, the energy storage power station project capacity of 2GW/5GWh. After the completion of the project, it can provide supporting basic services for the 7.3 million kW offshore wind power project and other new energy projects in Yangxi County, which will further improve the new energy consumption and the capacity of peak and frequency regulation of Yangxi and even the western Guangdong power grid, and promote the high-quality economic and social development of Yangxi.
3. Pingao Group won the bid for Africa's largest single energy storage project On June 13th, with its leading technical solutions and rich experience in energy storage project implementation, Pingao Group won the bid for the EPC project of 80 MW /320 MWH electrochemical energy storage power station of the South African National Power Company, with the contract amount of 761 million yuan. This project is not only Pingao Group's first overseas electrochemical energy storage project, but also the largest electrochemical energy storage project with the largest single capacity in Africa.
On July 14, the feasibility study report of Jiangsu Huaian 465MW/2600MWh salt caverns compressed air energy storage project passed the expert review in Beijing. Jiangsu Huaian 465MW/2600MWh Salt caver compressed air Energy Storage project is divided into two phases: the first phase is 115MW single machine, the second phase is 350MW single machine. Upon completion, the power station will become the world's largest compressed air energy storage power station with an annual generating capacity of 850 million KWH.
5. Cascaded 35kV high voltage direct-mounted energy storage system with the largest single capacity went offline July 15, Guangzhou Zhiguang Energy Storage Technology Co., LTD., a subsidiary of Guangzhou Zhiguang Electric Co., LTD., China Huaneng Group Clean Energy Technology Research Institute Co., LTD., Shanghai Jiao Tong University jointly held the "Cascade 35kV high voltage direct-mounted large capacity energy storage System Project Acceptance review and New product press conference. The expert group agreed that the 35kV 20MW/40MWh high voltage direct-mounted battery energy storage system developed by the project is the largest capacity single energy storage system reported so far, which is conducive to improving the capacity, safety and economy of the energy storage system, and it is suggested to accelerate the product promotion and application.
6. Ningbo's largest Distributed photovoltaic + Energy storage Project Successfully Put into operation On July 21, Ningbo's largest optical storage project "Ningbo Hangzhou Bay Geely Auto Parts Co., LTD. (Krypton factory)29MW distributed photovoltaic +6MW/12MWh Energy storage" was successfully connected to the grid, realizing synchronous optical storage operation. It is reported that the Krypton plant light storage project uses a roof area of 154,200 square meters and a parking area of 171,300 square meters, with an installed capacity of 29.2,864 MW. The photovoltaic power station is divided into five photovoltaic sub-stations, each of which is about 5.8MW. One of the sub-stations is connected to 110kV Jihang customer Substation through a 10-kv line. The four sub-stations are connected to the 110kV sub-10kV distribution house of the Jihang subscriber substation through a 10kV circuit respectively. The consumption mode of the project is "self-use, surplus electricity online", after the completion of the annual generating capacity of about 32 million kWh.
On August 25, the completion ceremony of the world's first CO2 + flywheel energy storage demonstration project was successfully held in Deyang. This project is also a carbon dioxide energy storage project with the largest single power and energy storage capacity in the world. The project covers an area of 18,000 square meters, about the size of two and a half football fields, the energy storage scale of 10MW/20MWh, can be stored in 2 hours full 20,000 KWH of energy, is the world's largest single power, the largest energy storage capacity of carbon dioxide energy storage project, is also the world's first carbon dioxide + flywheel energy storage comprehensive energy station.
8. China's first single largest electrochemical shared energy storage project On September 5, Shanxi Jinhai Clean Energy Co., LTD. 500MW/1GWh shared energy storage power station started construction. After the project is completed and put into operation at full capacity, it will become the first and largest single electrochemical shared energy storage demonstration project in China, with an annual output value of about 300 million yuan. It can help solve the problem of power grid security, promote the improvement of regional energy structure and increase the proportion of clean energy transmission. It can also effectively improve the absorption capacity of new energy, minimize the occurrence of wind abandonment, light abandonment and other phenomena, and improve the operation capacity of the power grid, stable the safe operation of the power grid.
On September 17, CNPC Huineng released a notice of centralized procurement of energy storage systems for new energy projects from 2022 to 2023, with a total energy storage scale of 5.5GWh. This is the seventh central enterprise that has released the demand for centralized purchase of energy storage equipment this year, and also the largest centralized purchase of energy storage system so far this year. The other six are Pinggao Group 3GWh, Huaneng 2GWh, CGN 1.9GWh, Huadian 1.4GWh, Datang 0.98GWh, and State Power Investment has not been announced. According to the announcement, the energy storage technology/system required for this collection is: all-vanadium flow battery energy storage system, air-cooled lithium iron phosphate energy storage system, and liquid-cooled lithium iron phosphate energy storage system. The design scheme of DC 1500V energy storage system is proposed, and the grid-connected voltage class is 35 kV.
10. Zhejiang's largest user-side molten salt Energy Storage project On September 19, Zhejiang Tiansheng Holding Group Co., LTD. 's molten salt energy storage project successfully delivered power. It is reported that the total investment of the project is about 270 million yuan, covers an area of 13 mu, after the operation of the annual steam supply of 420,000 tons, can completely replace the green heat energy of 32 printing and dyeing processing enterprises in the park currently used gas heat energy. Tiansheng Group molten salt energy storage project is the largest user-side molten salt energy storage project in Zhejiang Province, which uses wind power generation, photovoltaic power generation and cheap valley electricity for energy storage. It is expected to be officially put into operation on October 15, and the energy consumption cost can be saved by 9 million yuan per month.
11. The world's Largest light (heat) Storage and multi-energy Complementary Integration Project On September 20, China Energy Construction Group Investment Co., Ltd. and the People's government of Balikun Kazakh Autonomous County, Hami City, Xinjiang signed a green electricity demonstration project of "light (heat) storage and multi-energy complementary integration". The project is located in the Sandanghu area of Balikun County. It will build 1.35 million kilowatt photovoltaic, 150,000 kilowatt photothermal and supporting 220 kilovolt boost gathering station. The total investment is 8.2 billion yuan.
On September 20, the first user-side energy storage project -- the user-side Intelligent energy use project of LAN Si Technology (Dongguan) Co., LTD., which was jointly designed and constructed by Guangdong Nanhai Electric Power Design Institute and China Southern Power Grid Intelligent Energy (Guangdong) Co., LTD., invested by China Southern Power Grid Industrial Investment Group, was put into operation. According to the introduction, the total energy storage capacity of the project is 53MW/105MWh, and the average daily peak shift is about 100,000 KWH of electricity, which is the largest single capacity of user side lithium iron phosphate electrochemical energy storage project in China. The project supports the construction of photovoltaic with a total capacity of 5.9MWp, generating an average of 16,000 KWH of electricity per day, which is also the largest user project of integrated optical storage of China Southern Power Grid.
The world's largest compressed air energy storage demonstration project, a 350MW salt-caked compressed air energy storage demonstration project, was held in Tai 'an city, Shandong province on September 28. This project is jointly invested by China Energy Construction and Tai 'an Taishan New Energy Co., LTD., which is another large-scale new energy storage project after the world's first 300-megawatt compressed air energy storage demonstration project invested by China Energy Construction. This project has reached a new high in a number of energy storage technologies. It adopts the world's first low melting point molten salt high-temperature adiabatic compression technology. After completion of the project, it will achieve the world's first single power, the world's first conversion efficiency and the world's first energy storage scale in the field of compressed air energy storage. To build a new type of power system, to achieve the goal of "double carbon" contribution "can build program".
14, East China's largest power grid side energy storage, the largest domestic sodium ion energy storage battery project on September 28, the Three Gorges Energy Anhui Fuyang southern scenery storage base project energy storage system EPC general contracting results came out, China Energy Construction Group Anhui Electric Power Design Institute Co., Ltd. bid 996,136,601 yuan won the bid. Located in Funan County, Fuyang City, Anhui Province, this project is the largest grid-side electrochemical energy storage project in East China and the largest sodium-ion energy storage battery project in China. In this phase of the project, 300MW/600MWh energy storage power station will be built, including 270MW/540MWh lithium iron phosphate batteries and 30MW/60MWh sodium ion batteries. A total of 81 sets of lithium iron phosphate energy storage units and 9 sets of sodium ion energy storage units are set up, and a 220 kV booster station is also built. The final phase of the future project is planned to be 450MW/900MWh, which is expected to be put into operation in June 2023.
15. On September 30, the world's first national demonstration project of 100 megawatts of advanced compressed air energy storage was connected to the grid in Zhangjiakou, Hebei Province. The demonstration project technology is provided by the Institute of Engineering Thermophysics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. The construction started in October 2020, and the equipment installation and system integration will be completed in December 2021. The total scale of the demonstration project is 100MW/400MWh, the core equipment autonomy rate is 100%, and the annual power generation can exceed 132 million KWH. It can provide power guarantee for about 50,000 households during peak power consumption, save 42,000 tons of standard coal and reduce 109,000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions every year. It is the new compressed air energy storage power station with the largest single scale and the highest efficiency in the world.
16. The world's largest single-phase energy storage plant goes into commercial operation October 18, Canadian Solar Inc. (NASDAQ: CSIQ, announced the commercial operation of the 350 MWH /1400 MWH Crimson independent energy storage project to provide flexible and reliable electricity to the California grid. On October 18, Ningde Time announced an agreement with Primergy Solar LLC (Primergy), a U.S. utility and distributed PV + energy storage developer, to supply batteries exclusively for the Gemini PV + Energy Storage project. Ningde Times will provide Primergy with the long-life, highly integrated and high-safety outdoor liquid-cooled energy storage cabinet EnerOne, which uses a highly thermal stable lithium iron phosphate cell with a cycle life of up to 10,000 times. The Gemini deployment of 690 MWac/966 MWdc solar panels and a 1.416GWh energy storage system will be one of the largest photovoltaic energy storage projects in the United States when completed, according to the statement.
On October 20, Shaoxing Green Electric molten salt Energy Storage Demonstration Project, the largest user-side molten salt energy storage project in Zhejiang Province and the largest molten salt energy storage project under construction in China, was officially put into steam production trial operation in Tianshi Low-carbon Industrial Park, Keqiao District, Shaoxing. The project was built by Xizi Clean Energy Equipment Manufacturing Co., LTD. The project uses large-scale green electricity and molten salt energy storage technology to store excess green electricity (wind power or photovoltaic) in high temperature molten salt during the off-peak period of the power grid, and uses the stored heat to transfer heat for external heating or power generation during the peak and peak period, which can meet the demand of the power grid at the peak of full load, with advantages of high parameters, high efficiency, long storage time and low cost. It is calculated that the project can generate 63.7 million kWh of electricity annually, supply 840,000 tons of steam annually, save 155,000 tons of standard coal and reduce about 290,000 tons of carbon dioxide annually.
19. The world's largest capacity liquid flow battery energy storage Power station was connected to the grid on October 30, with the technical support of Li Xianfeng's team from the Energy Storage Technology Research Department (DNL17) of Dalian Institute of Chemical Engineering, the 100 megawatt liquid flow battery energy storage peak regulation power station with the largest power and capacity in the world was officially connected to the grid for power generation. The power station is built and operated by Dalian Hengcurrent Energy Storage Station Co., LTD., and the battery system is designed and manufactured by Dalian Rongke Energy Storage Technology Development Co., LTD. After the units are fully put into operation, the annual power output is expected to reach 500 million KWH, which can meet the annual electricity demand of more than 400,000 ordinary families of more than 1 million people.
On November 4, the world's largest single-phase energy storage plant, supplied by BYD Energy Storage, successfully went into commercial operation on the sunny West Coast of the United States. The independent energy storage station is BYD Cube T28, a 1500V grid-level energy storage product provided by BYD Energy Storage, with an energy storage capacity of nearly 1.7GWh. BYD Cube T28 supplied this time is the first liquid cooled energy storage product in China that has passed the identification of UL9540A system level and has excellent performance. It adopts vehicle gauge cooling system components with high safety, strong reliability and long life, and is compatible with global energy storage standards.
22. The largest single grid side independent station house-type liquid cooling system electrochemical energy storage power station in China On November 16, Ningde Xiapu Yuyangli Energy Storage Project (Phase I) started power transmission successfully. This project is the largest single grid side independent station house type liquid cooling system electrochemical energy storage power station in China so far, and is the first gigawatt level energy storage power station EPC project contracted by Yili Construction Company.
On November 18, Hubei Province's largest single centralized (shared) energy storage power station was connected to the grid at full capacity. Built by Lin Yang, the project covers an area of more than 20 mu, with a total installed capacity of 60MW/120MWh. The energy storage system includes two types: liquid cooling (capacity 30MW/61.9MWh) and air cooling (capacity 30.24MW/58.129MWh). The auxiliary system of fire fighting, air conditioning, lighting and monitoring is complete. After the project is officially put into operation, it can solve nearly 600,000 kW of new energy grid-connected regulation capacity for Xiantao City and even Hubei Province.
